On Light and Feeling
Yana Malunova — a designer and analogue photographer.
My creative work is rooted in emotion, observation, and the rhythm of light. Photography for me is a form of listening — a way to slow down, to notice, to exist inside the quiet of a moment. It’s less about documenting the world, and more about translating what it feels like to be within it. Through film, I find a kind of honesty — in the blur, in the softness, in what’s left unsaid. Every imperfection becomes part of the emotion, every frame a small conversation between light and memory.
“Between Light and Grain” is my attempt to hold these fragile connections to let time, texture, and feeling merge into something timeless and human

My Approach
My process is guided by three simple principles — observation, imperfection, and emotion. They define the way I create, and the way I see the world through the lens of film.
Observation
Photography begins with silence — with watching and waiting. I let the light move and reveal itself before I decide to capture it.
Imperfection
I value the unpredictable — the scratches, dust, and blur that make each image unique. Film teaches acceptance; beauty often comes from the unexpected.
Emotion
Each photograph is a translation of feeling. It’s not about precision, but presence — the warmth, stillness, and memory held inside the grain.
